Le brouillard du Brexit commence à se dissiper
L’activation par le gouvernement britannique, le 29 mars, de l’article 50 du traité sur l’Union européenne a ouvert la négociation du Brexit. Beaucoup reste à clarifier quant à l’issue de cette négociation, qui doit se terminer dans un délai de deux ans comme le prévoit le traité, mais d’ores et déjà quelques jalons sont posés qui relativisent la part d’inconnu. lire la suite

Obama peut-il prendre l’Europe au sérieux ?
Le traité de Lisbonne est censé rendre le fonctionnement de l’Union européenne plus efficace, plus démocratique et plus cohérent, en particulier pour ce qui est de sa place dans les relations internationales. Deux fonctions nouvelles ont été créées : Herman van Rompuy, Belge flamand, a été désigné président stable du Conseil européen (la réunion des chefs d’État et de gouvernement des 27), et la Britannique Catherine Ashton, Haut Représentant pour les Affaires étrangères et la politique de sécurité, préside désormais le Conseil des affaires étrangères (la réunion des 27 ministres des Affaires étrangères).
